SFP – the nationwide insolvency practitioners – has been appointed Administrator to Quenby Hall Dairy Limited, one of only six dairies permitted by law to make Stilton cheese.
Stilton was first made at Quenby Hall over 250 years ago and is exported to a global market. The hall, in Hungarton, Leicester was also England’s first purpose built dairy. The company has an annual turnover of circa £1.8 million and employs around 40 members of staff.
SFP’s Daniel and Simon Plant – both licensed members of the Insolvency Practitioners’ Association – were appointed Joint Administrators on 15th April 2011.
“The situation is unfortunate for Quenby Hall Dairy,” says Simon Plant, Group Partners at SFP, “there is a lack of cashflow at a time when the facilities were expanding.”
The Joint Administrators are seeking a buyer to rescue the business: “With the heritage and prestige of the business being one of only six Stilton producers, we are very hopeful,” Simon adds.
